Pau Gasol is the First Western Conference Player of the Week of the Season
Kudos to Pau Gasol for being the first Western Conference Player of the Week for the 2010-2011 NBA Season.
His efforts has helped the Los Angeles Lakers start their title defense with a 3-game winning streak, plus taking the pressure off Kobe Bryant while the latter eases his knee back into form. Gasol averaged 25.3 points, 10.3 rebounds. 5.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game in the past week, a stat line that really looks good for any conference.
If you ask me, I can live with Gasol coming up with these numbers on a regular basis. In his first seasons with the Lakers, he averaged around 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. A jump like this in his production is good, especially in the regular season where boredom and motivation sometimes escape NBA teams.
Who knows? With the way things are going for the Lakers and Pau Gasol, this could be a norm rather than an exception of a week.
