Lakers Lose 2008 NBA Finals

Congratulations to the Boston Celtics.

The Los Angeles Lakers franchise suffers another defeat from their rivals in the 2008 NBA Finals. Some people said it's a lucky day to win the Celtics' 17th championship in June 17th and at this point, Lady Luck smiled on the Celtics.

Well, not only luck, but it helped that the Lakers just wilted to the stingy team defense of the Boston Celtics. Kobe Bryant was held to below-level production and the tandem of Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom have failed to capitalize again. The Lakers defense looked listless against Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen, thus the anti-climactic blowout in the Finals.

Congratulations Boston. The Lakers will be back.

  1. "Lakers will be back". But that horrible, horrible loss last night will stick to the team forever. They didn't have to win the series to cap off their impressive season -- they just had to show some heart and toughness in defeat. And they couldn't do that. Instead, they lost like losers. No fight. No pride. Like a long, slow-motion train wreck of an embarrassment in front of millions of people around the world. What an insult to the Laker's proud history. In the back of our minds, we'll remember that this Lakers squad put the franchise in the record books for all the wrong reasons. Historic loss at home. Historic loss on the road. We can pretend we're moving on, but let's be honest -- we'll never forget. And Kobe will have to wear it around his neck like an albatross, forever staining the Kobe vs. Jordan debate. May as well stamp a big, red #2 on his jersey...sometimes being second really, really stinks.
