Kobe Shows Wade How to Get It Done in the Clutch

Gina Ferazzi / Los Angeles Times / December 4, 2009

If you ask me, the image of Kobe Bryant shooting over Dwayne Wade is the closest thing we have to a replacement for the current NBA logo.

And why not? The current NBA logo is patterned after Lakers great Jerry West, aptly called "Mr.Clutch" for his ability to perform during clutch (or high-pressure) moments in the game. Today, there's probably no one better in in those moments than Kobe Bryant.

Yeah, you can bring up the names Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and even LeBron James, but Kobe has time and time again come up big in the final seconds of the game. And it was on display in the Lakers' last game against Dwayne Wade's Miami Heat.

Down by two with three seconds left, Kobe received an inbound pass from Ron Artest in the right side of the court. Kobe fumbled a bit due to the tight defense of Dwayne Wade and Udonis Haslem. After breaking free by going nearer to the center court, Kobe drove and jumps with one leg over Wade's outstretched arm to release a long shot that kissed the glass and drops to the bottom of the net. Lakers win.

Mr. Wade, that is how you win game the game by shooting over someone at the buzzer.
