Sprite and the NBA are stopping in Los Angeles this Saturday (May 22) for a competition to find the city’s best amateur dunker. The winner will receive $1,000 and the chance to win $10,000 in the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown judged by LeBron James at the 2011 All Star Weekend in Los Angeles.
The competition is open to all local dunkers ages 18 and up, and will be judged by a panel that includes NBA legend Darryl Dawkins and local dunker Carlos “Los” Smothers, the runner–up in the 2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown.
The event will be held at the Universal City Walk and it will start at 4pm. The good news is that it's open to the pubilc so everyone can catch a glimpse of the high flyers who could be featured in the 2011 All Star Game.
